At the start of the new year four months ago, we were all making other plans. D3UC was excited about starting our 7th year in business, the incredible growth in the VoIP market that was going to occur over the next five years, and the third complete refresh of our website that launched this month.
And then life happened. Four months later, our lives have totally changed, and now our plans for the year seem uncertain. It’s during times like these that I look back on other difficult times we have survived through and reflect on a saying I learned early in my career:
“It’s not what happens to you that matters. It’s how you respond to what happens to you that makes a difference.” – Zig Ziglar
So how should we respond to the new reality we are now in? I believe the “shelter in place / work from home” new normal is a benefit to MSPs across the US, for several reasons:
- There are over 5M very small businesses (VSBs) – 90% of all businesses in the US – who outsource most of their technology needs to MSPs.
- MSPs are going to be the ones who help VSBs migrate their employees to secure home environments – not the phone & cable companies.
- MSPs will be appreciated more by VSBs, and their services will be more in demand, as a result of the pandemic because the workplace is never going back to the way it was before COVID-19.
